g'day Sarge,

A little while ago I had an idea / possible suggestion to Ener et al so I posted a 'reply' on Ener's site.

To cut a long post short, it was that one of the files (one?) in soas gets renamed to something that seemed a logical name (to me) but after typing out what was prolly a long post then clicking the 'submit' button I then got a message that I had to click (tick/check) the 'you are a person not a bot' box so I then scrolled down to find it and clicked it then again clicked the submit button.

I then got another message that I should preview my post before posting it. OK, most might wanna chex 4 typographical uh-oh's… I'd already done that so didn't need to preview my intended post so I closed that 'message' to look for the preview button but my screen changed back to the 'blank box' where I'd post the 'reply'!

HUH? Doesn't look like I'll be posting anything on Ener's 'blog'.

BTW, If I did it rite den am now gotta Wikidot account but den am blonde so who noes… time will tell.

What did I try to post on Ener's blog?
With soas after you have unzipped which ever version ya download then you have ran it (pre-soas073) and had got MoWes running you then had to navigate to Diva-rXXXXX\bin and click the OpenSim file to start ya soas or OpenSim.32BitLaunch if using a 64-bit computer. Fine, easy to understand.
OpenSim is 32-bit….
OpenSim.32BitLaunch is 64-bit…

Blonde logic tells me if ya got a 32-bit computer then ya run the 32-bit file;
If ya got a 64-bit computer then (when available) ya run the 64-bit file {even if its 32-bit for 64-bit).

Windows computers automatically (unless ya tell it different) list stuff alphanumerically so why not get who ever did 'em to rename etc the two 'launch' files to say:
32Bit.OpenSim (for 32-bit computers)
64Bit.OpenSim (for 64-bit computers) ?

Also is that Configure.exe still needed within soas073 if the SOAS_Start batch file is in the soas073 folder?

Actually, once you get it, Ener's is easy to post to. And she recently renovated it, too, so you may ahve tried posting then. I certainly don't mind the "check if your human" box. Way better than that @#$% Captcha thing. :-)

I got confused about the 32bit launch until I turned it around and thought of it as launching a 32bit on a 64bit machine. No problems since then. And I believe that since 073 its not necessary at all, though I could be confusing my info.

I think the Configure.exe is used by the main app, OpenSim.exe. I am not sure, but perhaps the configure.exe app is what reads the settings from the ini files and so it, well, configures your setup. I have no idea if it does that or what it does, I simply leave it. :-) Maybe one day I'll see what happens if it gets removed. I do know that the SoaS_Start only starts the apps in proper order and has nothing to do with the Configure.exe, which is part of the OpenSim stuff. I don't even use it. I use 2 shortcuts to Mowes.exe and to OpenSim.exe.
